breed ring and as Dixie
was starting to have hip
trouble, I began think-
ing about getting an-
other dog. I went to the
Australian Cattle Dog
Nationals for the first
time in 2003; Dad drove
Dixie down for me,
while Mom, Trever and I
got to fly there. At the
specialty, Dixie qualified
in novice obedience and
in both of her agility
classes. Also at the spe-
cialty I met Mr. Ware,
an Australian Cattle Dog
breeder from New Jer-
sey. I liked some of the
older dogs that he was
showing, but he did not
have any puppies at
that time. He was planning a litter for Decem-
ber. Cara was born December 29 2003; she
just missed Christmas. The whole family went
with me to pick up Cara from New Jersey, I
had difficulty picking between Cara and one of
her sisters, but in the end I chose the littlest
one with the biggest personality.

In 2004 I showed mostly in UKC and that
year Dixie received her CD, and UAG1. Cara
received her CH in UKC when she was only
ten months old finishing with a group 1st. For
2004 Cara was the UKC Number 1 Australian
Cattle Dog. We were also number 3 in Region
Five for junior agility, and number 1 for junior
obedience. The next year Cara received her
CD in UKC. We showed off and on in 05 and
06, including the specialty in 05. Cara finally
received her AKC CH in 2007; she also re-
ceived her CD that year.

Right now Dixie is retired and
spends most of her time
lounging in the sun. Cara and I
are starting herding and hav-
ing a blast, hopefully soon we
will be ready to compete in
that. We are crossing our fin-
gers that we might be ready
for the 2008 nationals, we will
see how it goes... Oh, and we
just started competing in Rally,
we have one qualifying score
so far.
